The Visual Communication Design (VCD) Program at Universitas Pelita Harapan has begun implementing its 2024 Operational Curriculum in response to the evolving demands of the creative industry, technological advancements, and 21st-century learning needs. This curriculum is designed to strengthen the integration of theory and practice, encourage interdisciplinary collaboration, and prepare students to become adaptive, innovative designers who are relevant to today’s challenges.
The department offers three areas of concentration that allow students to focus their creative and professional development:
- Graphic Design
This concentration emphasizes visual communication through typography, branding, editorial design, packaging, and advertising. Students explore how to deliver clear and compelling messages through visual media, combining conceptual thinking with design execution that meets industry standards. - Digital Art
In the Digital Art concentration, students explore artistic expressions using digital tools and techniques. The curriculum covers illustration, concept art, animation, and experimental media, preparing students for creative roles in entertainment, gaming, and visual storytelling industries. - Film
The Film concentration focuses on narrative, cinematography, directing, editing, and sound design. Students learn to craft compelling visual stories through motion pictures, gaining hands-on experience in both the artistic and technical aspects of filmmaking.
These concentrations are designed to equip students with both specialized knowledge and interdisciplinary perspectives, enabling them to thrive in various creative industries.
